Squad chalet.
Even before it started, I lost hope. The people who had replied me about BBQ and meeting at Pasir Ris was so sadly few that I didn't even want to think who would be there on the first day. The gloom induced by myself got so bad that I had given up organizing anything, BBQ included, which Seow Hwee and Pei Hao settled in the end.
I guess I should have had faith.
I was surprised when it was not only Amanda waiting, but Keng Seng as well. And later, Jing Hua came over. Surprise- if I had to guess who'd turn up on the first day, I wouldn't have wagered on them. Just that they never seemed to be in the middle of things, and of all who would turn up to make this a success… ^^
Then came the awkwardness, because I honestly, honestly didn't know what to talk to them about. I doubt we ever had a real conversation before. But we lived, we lived, and survived reasonably even in the absence of Pei Hao.
It wasn't tense as we played cards, and the two of them are extremely amiable. It was really interesting watching Keng Seng and Jing Hua play. I don't know how to describe it, but it was extremely lighthearted, and… cute? ^^ And I learnt something- we have been calling Jing Hua's name wrongly for ages. 0_0 I didn't know that his Jing is the same as mine!! 0_0 And yet I guess it is like what he says- since everyone calls him that, then like that lor. As I was going to call him, my first instinct was to read his name as jing3 again. -_-
Eventually Pei Hao came, right after we were betting when he'd turn up. I was saying something like 6.45, Keng Seng guessed 10, because Pei Hao kept saying "coming" when he wasn't here yet. ^^ In the end Jing Hua's bet was the closest.
Chloe and Michele turned up afterwards, and we left for dinner in the middle of Tong Yi. ._. Had dinner at Just Acia, and we realized that Pei Hao had brought only $20 dollars to spend at the chalet. -_- He kept going for more servings of ice cream throughout dinner. Seow Hwee joined us thereafter.
Back in the chalet, we first watched 精武风云 (whatever the title was) with the DVD player provided, then we proceeded to play cards (me, Seow Hwee, Keng Seng, Jing Hua) or use Pei Hao's laptop to create SIMS characters (Amanda, Chloe and Michele). Eventually Chloe joined our side in watching us play cards when she couldn't stand watching Amanda and Michele manipulate her character. =P
We stopped at about 3.30am, the latest I have stayed up for reasons apart from homework and reading. The guys tried to be nice and share one tiny pullout bed and even retreated to the toilet when we insisted they wake up (Seow Hwee even threatened to pour water on them if they didn't ^^). Because we had 5 girls, and I guess they felt that it would be extremely cramped if we tried to squeeze into the two single beds. (Uh, for the benefit of those who didn't turn up, we had 4 single beds. Sort of. Two of which were pullouts, and much less comfy.) Anyway, got them to move eventually. =P Keng Seng took one side, Jing Hua and Pei Hao slept on the other. Girls managed to fit, surprisingly. We slept horizontal. ^^
Seow Hwee woke us up at 9, and we took turns washing up. It was about 10 when we eventually went out to get brunch at food court, then we took lots of 自拍 group shots. About 13? ^^ We saw 4G outside the food court- somehow we seem to have an affinity of some sort. They were at Just Acia the previous evening as well- somehow we just keep bumping into them.
Following that we went to book a room for kbox then headed to the arcade, where we were joined by Yang Sheng, Shou Fong Madeleine Freda, and later Kristine Jie Min Ruth Yun Hui Ying Ying. No surprises there, but Jing Hua and Keng Seng didn't join us for kbox, and Kristine they all went back to arcade(?) and chalet after that…
For kbox, we split rooms as follows: Freda, Shou Fong, Madeleine, Pei Hao and I in one, Yang Sheng, Chloe, Amanda, Seow Hwee and Michele in the other. Our room was the damn cold one, but appears we lived. Shou Fong and Madeleine paired up against Pei Hao and Freda in some couple songs, competing with the other pair about who sounded better. Quite amusing, but I shall say nothing about the singing. =D
When we got back, the bbq stuff arrived, and then the guys worked to get the charcoal burning in due time. Not the first time we are thankful that our squad guys are effective people who are willing to help, but thanks squadmates. ^^
At some point, Shou Fong and I retreated into the chalet to watch Tong Yi like the unwavering fans that we are. == We were joined by Madeleine, Junianti and Freda… Sorry to squadmates outside? ^_^
Apart from those mentioned earlier, Xing Yao had come over from his class chalet to help cook, and so did Ken. From the window/sliding door, I think I saw Kenneth come at some point as well… We ended up with quite a lot of food left and too much fruit punch, but nothing went to waste eventually. ^^
We watched Insidious on Pei Hao's laptop at night. The people left would be Pei Hao, Yang Sheng, Xing Yao (who was complaining about his sunburn from his class wild wild wet) Chloe, Kristine, Ruth, Ying Ying, Seow Hwee, Freda, Shou Fong, Michele, myself… I didn't miss out anyone right? It was sort of scary I guess, the movie, at some parts, but I guess the thing about horror movies is that you don't focus on where the camera leads you to focus? ^^ Kristine screamed at least twice, which I think made us even more scared than we were of the scene. ^^
Then to remove that mood, we watched 功夫灌篮 that Shou Fong brought, then played UNO, which was like endless torture. We were at it for more than an hour. Xing Yao and Kristine were asleep by the time we began, but Kristine awoke from all our noise. Then most eventually dropped to sleep, but Yang Sheng, Chloe, Pei Hao, Seow Hwee, Shou Fong, Freda and I stayed up for quite some time playing cards. (I mean, there wasn't much space to sleep even if we tried) Pei Hao and Freda went to sleep sometime later, but the rest of us continued til morning, catching at most 20 min of dozing before the day started.
Oh and Pei Hao sleeptalked- sort of. ^^ Damn joke.
I will continue with Day 3 tomorrow? Other squadmates post also can? Alternative perspective. ^^
